The Sellaro Lodge is part of the Order Sons of Italy in America, the oldest and largest fraternal organization of Italian American men and women on the North American continent. We've been an active part of the Smithtown community since 1974 and with over 150 members, we are continuing our work to promote our Italian heritage and culture and support the many charitable endeavors of both the lodge and the Order. 2011 Dr. Vincenzo Sellaro Lodge Scholarships Children and grandchildren of lodge members are eligible for three undergraduate scholarships and one graduate scholarship. Lodge members must be in good standing and have been members for three years.
All lodge scholarship awards are $500.00 each. All lodge applications must be post marked prior to April 15, 2012. The Dante Medal is awarded to a
graduating high school student from Smithtown East and
Smithtown West who has demonstrated excellence in Italian
Studies. In addition to the medals, each student receives a
$500 scholarship. One is awarded in the name of Joseph
Palazzolo and the other in the name of Gaspar Capone, both who
were past presidents of our lodge. The selections are made by
the high schools. One student is selected at each school,
and the awards are presented by our lodge at the high school
awards ceremony in June. |
